A seawall is a man-made structure used for erosion protection for land-based properties. There are many different materials that seawalls can be constructed from but they all serve the same purpose; to protect both land and waterways from erosion and invasive deterioration. If you're not sure about the extent of your seawall project we would be happy to stop by for a seawall inspection of your residential or commercial property. Seawall inspections should be performed every few years, so maybe now is the time to have the professionals come out and take a look. Over time seawalls will erode and become obsolete by current structural standards. Erosion is a very real concern when it comes to waterfront properties and preventative maintenance is always preferred when it comes to seawalls, not to mention that it will always be much more affordable to maintain a seawall than it would be to replace the same sea wall structure. Give us a call or fill out the contact form on the right side to speak with one of our seawall contractor specialists in Ellenton and learn how we can help with your next seawall, lake wall, or retaining wall project. |

A brief history and introduction to the area - The oldest structure in Ellenton is the Gamble Plantation, which was built between 1845 and 1850 by Major Robert Gamble. Originally a sugar plantation worked by slaves, the Antebellum Mansion fell into disrepair after the Civil War.
Major George Patten and his wife, Mary, purchased the property in 1870 and named the area Ellenton after his daughter Ellen. In 1881 the United States government designated Ellenton as an official post office site, which of course legitimized the settlement in the country.
A refining plant for Fuller's Earth was located in Ellenton along the Manatee River and it opened in 1903. It was owned by the Atlantic Refining Company, which is known today as Atlantic Petroleum, and had more than 150 employees making it the biggest refinery the company owned. It burned to ground after catching fire twice; once in 1908 and later in 1912. It would burn down for a final time in 1922 and close permanently after that disastrous fiasco.
